Even though many of us in the US are aware of just how illegal collecting fedearal taxes may be, everyone that has tried fighting the illegality of it has ended out in jail. Joan Baez refused to pay the portion of her taxes that were funding the Vietnam War in the 60′s. She wasn’t jailed but they found other means of garnishing her wages.
In 1982 Archbishop Raymond Hunthausen withheld half of his income tax to protest the stockpiling of nuclear weapons by the United States, as typified by the naval base on Puget Sound for Trident missile-equipped submarines. This action prompted the IRS to garnish his wages.
Beginning in the mid-1970s, U.S. Federal courts began using the term “tax protester” to describe persons who raised frivolous arguments about the legality of Federal taxes, particularly income taxes.
The IRS will seize all bank accounts of anyone that is a “tax protest”.
Joan Baez and the Archbishop are considered “tax resisters” because they are not protesting the tax laws, but are protesting the way the tax dollars are spent.
The U.S. government is corrupted beyond the thinking and understanding of the average American citizen. It will take more than the new protesters of “tea party” advocates to accomplish changes to our corrupt government system. Ynfortunately most Americans are too apathetic to band together to make any changes if they understand what is going on at all. Sorry I wasn’t able to correct spelling in this post, but this site does not allow any corrections. I can’t even back-space. Very odd behavior for a bloc. So, I’m done. Redundant to try to add any more anyway.

Many thanks for your comments June, you obviously know your stuff on this subject, to be honest the person I know who seems to have got away with not paying her taxes is Mary Elizabeth Croft (HOW I CLOBBERED EVERY BUREAUCRATIC CASH-CONFISCATORY AGENCY KNOWN TO MAN), think you’ve got to become a freeman on the land. America seems to have really lost the plot, the majority of the population seems so uneducated.. sorry guys but its’ true.
In England John Harris (www.tpuc.org) hasn’t payed taxes for several years, they’ve tried everything, there last trick was to try to make him bankrupt, as far as I’m aware, he’s still winning that one.
